What Is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is like counselling. It involves talking and sharing what isn’t working in your life. And it involves many of the same skills. And many Psychotherapists were first trained as counsellors. Psychotherapy also works deeper. It looks at the deeper patterns in your life, and helps find the roots of your issues, and that may be in the earlier times of your life. Psychotherapy can also delve into exploration of self, issues around identity, meaning and beliefs.

Psychotherapy can be longer term than counselling. If a problem in your life has been around for a couple of months, it may not take much time to find reasons or solutions. However if patterns of behaviour or beliefs have been around since your childhood, then they may take longer to find, and challenge.
